We can supply food for qualified clients on a non-permanent basis.  We can qualify families or individuals for 6 monthly food visits or for a one-time emergency food assistance.

We do require that clients attend a class on Budget Preparation prior to their second visit.  The training is provided by the Trident Literacy Association and is taught at the HHGC office.

HHGC looks at several factors in the qualification process:

  • The initial client interview
  • Berkeley County residence located within ZIP Codes 29410, 29445,29456,29461 and 29483.
  • Income (based on State Guidelines)*
  • Other sources of assistance
  • employment status
  • employability status
  • number of persons in the family
  • age
  • disability (if any)
  • comparison of family situation to Federal poverty level
